Moving UsenetExplorer to a new disk

Hello,

I recently installed a new, larger SSD as my C-disk. At present I have UE installed on the D-disk and I want to move it to C. How do I do that so as to keep all intact?

Re: UE.exe version 3.4 removed by Norton AV

I have done just that now and all is OK. It must be like you say: a random sequence of bytes seen as a threat. Stupid AV-programs

UE.exe version 3.4 removed by Norton AV

Alex,
The new version 3.4 of UE was removed from my PC shortly after opening by Norton AV. Reason: "suspicious behavior". I remember having a problem like this once before. Could you please try and make a version that is not detected by Norton?

Re: Can't get auto unrar working

Alex, OK, I read your post carelessly: I thought you meant the Unpack menu item. Looking at the Task Manager Unpack tab, it seems to be OK after all. A difficulty I have to cope with is the sloppy posting with several 'fixed' posts added. So the result is untidy. I was also in error thinking that th...

Re: Can't get auto unrar working

The Unpack Options are as in the attachment: I think they are what was to be expected.

Can't get auto unrar working

Hello,
I recently had to re-install XP and UE as well since I lost a complete disk with the OS and the Programs Files folder.
Now UE is working fine except that I cannot get auto unrar to work. I have in my opinion all the settings in the Save/Unpack tab as they should be. What am I missing?

Re: UE flagged up as a virus

LOL I have at least 4 executables/installers that have been tagged as Trojans by McAfee - they say "send them to us and we will check them" but never any response. I have to disable the AV program temporarily to be able to install certain updates. Nobody seems to try your solution to avoid...

Re: UE flagged up as a virus

Alex,

When you say "compressed executable", are you then referring to the file UE.exe with a size of 1.545.216 bytes that I run when I use UE? Something like UPX from http://sourceforge.net/projects/upx/ ?

Re: UE flagged up as a virus

I suddenly have the same problem: I must have been using the UE executable version 3.04 for about a week, but today it suddenly disappeared from the folder. If I reinstall it, it stays for a few seconds and then disappears again. It is the McAfee anti-virus program that does the deleting, I can see ...

Save queue stays suspended - cannot save texts

Hello all,

I try to save a tree of text messages (Message-ID: <8h8ar4hmg56ohfspqnu023h5odnc21rsgv@4ax.com>)

I got the bodies, tree expanded, all messages selected. Whatever I try: I don't succeed. The "Suspend save queue" button stays pressed down.

What do I miss?

usenet explorer reviewed in Dutch magazine

In the Dutch magazine Computer!Totaal (I think over 100.000 subscribers, at least the affiliated association "Hobby Computer Club" has that many members at least, I believe) UE was reviewed in just under half a page. It says among others "...handles very large groups...a very extensiv...

I suppose you knew it already, but I too want to express my admiration for UE, especially as it is now - with unrar and all. How people would want to use a different binary newsreader totally escapes me! I'm very glad I joined UE (after enjoying NewPro previously) and I thank you once again, Alex!!

I see now what I did wrong: I forgot to set the correct path for the database. It runs now like a train! Thanks again.
