Where in the database do I find the server password?

I remember Alex told me where it was about 4 years ago but I'm getting old and can't remember.

Maximum number of headers?

I had a trajedy and lost all my music, so I decided to try to rebuild the collection. I started by getting as many headers as possible for the group alt.binaries.mp3.classic-rock and dropped them into UE - the intent was to delete all files without tags and merely automatically rename and sort them ...

Do 600+ day old files really exist?

I see search results over 600 days old. Do they really exist? If so, which server has them?

Thanks

Danger in Allowing UE to Have Database in "Program File

In Vista the rules are that if you don't have explicit (by requesting) elevated permissions to write to C:\Program Files, the system lets you think you are writing there but actually redirects (virtualizes) your writes elsewhere . On the surface, this sucks in a huge way, in the "where are my f...

It seems to be more complicated than that. Yes I am logged in as administrator. the "Program Files" directory seems to be some sort of a special directory in Vista. I have User Account Control turned off, but when it is turned on, moving a directory from "Program files" takes spe...

Here is a strange thing that might give you a clue - when I am in regular mode and I go to the properties menu, database location, UE can see the subdirectories in C"/program files/Usenet explorer. But in safe mode, UE can't seem to see these subdirectories.

"Lost" database - Vista access permissions

Here is a real strange problem - it's a Vista problem more than a UE problem, I think. After downloading some software from Usenet, I got a real bad trojan. Even after I eliminated as much as I could find, Vista crashes after about 5 minutes. It does not crash in safe mode. So, I merely copy everyth...

(by the way i don't use a cracked version of vista, i bought one for 15 euro because i work at a company that has a contract with microsoft. This is a legal version of vista business. Still it ain't good). You don't need to crack Vista. Use timerlock and you are running an uncracked version. It's s...

How do I get the Server Password?? Also, using GN Accelerat

I want to try out Giganews Accelerator; it says change the server name to "Localhost." Since I can't change the server name, I assume I have to make a new server named "Localhost" and put in the server name / Password from the old server, right? But I can't because I don't rememb...

I am not sure what "console view" is but no, taskmanager shows UE trying to download. The Articles tab shows the file name and "Pending." The parts tab shows 0% then when it tries to connect it disappears. The errors tab shows nothing.

Can't Connect to Multiple Servers

Strange problem - I had a 3 MB/s connection which worked fine. The servce raised the speed to 10 MB/s, but my modem was still a 3 MB/s. Everything worked fine. I have 1.9.8, and Giganews, Easynews, and the net server which they outsource to Supernews. The network re-provisioned the modem to raise th...

Need Help in Uploading

When uploadingto Giganews, the upload is very fast, then the part stops on 100% for several minutes. After several minutes it says "Connecting" again for several minutes. The net result is that when it uploads it is very fast but it actually uploads maybe 5% of the time. What is the reason...

No, there is a minor bug, actually part of a feature, that is so small I never mentioned it. Seems that you have designed UE to automatically disconnect servers which do not have the newsgroup. On certain errors UE gets confused and disconnects servers which have NO newsgroups - I.E., the internet h...
