Ok, so the "Get latest Headers" option does the trick. I first download ALL headers from my free ISP newsserver to get a reasonable idea how much Headers are posted each day. Then multiply that with the retention I need on my Payserver to download those missing files (with about 10% extra ...

You don't have to suply an (existing) e-mail in NPro. Anything that will follow the syntaxis of an valid e-mail adres will do (like "newspro.is.the@greatest.com"). You won't be anonymous though, 'cause that will depend on the newsserver you use to post (do the strip the Post-headers, you'r...

Thx guys, I'll try it with the "get latest headers" options next time I have to catch up from a large newsgroup. I know for sure that the "retention" option indeed DOES download the headers, because i can see the number of downloaded MB's for the newsgroup grow while no headers a...

My understanding of retention is that, assuming you're starting with a new newsgroup or empty database, if you set it for, say, 1-2 days/delete the rest, NP will pull headers only for the past 48 hrs. and delete anything older than that, but leave those on the server. Then, in future pulls, headers...

How to Cach Up?

Many newsreaders have a function called "CatchUp". You use it after you've been away some time, and don't want to download all the headers you missed. Especcialy if you using a Payserver that count's Headerdownload as used data, en does not allow Xpat, it's a very handy option. Also after ...

Req: Startup option with last open window(s)

It would be nice to have "Start with open windows from last session". I mean, when you shut down newspro with 3 or more open windows, Newspro would reopen this windows on startup, including the used filters in these windows. With large groups this might slowdown the start-up procedure, but...

Nah, that's not what I want. It has many more features that I don't want/don't need. It's also another program all my traffic will be routed through, causing yet more CPU-load I can't spare. I don't need to divide the available bandwith between applic's. When I need to send an E-mail, Post a message...

Req: Bandwidth monitor for each configured server

Currently, the only Bandwidth speed available is in the taskmanager. However, this is the total bandwidth used (also used to calculate an estimate for the download time). What I would like to have, is a speedmonitor for each configured newsserver. This might be integrated under the Servers-tab and u...
