I was wondering if there is a way with Newspro to download binaries from Mac news groups, such as alt.binaries.mac? When I do try to do this, the files do not save correctly. Currently, there are no good news readers for the Mac, and I would like to use NewPro to download binaries for macs.
Please advice.

there is no uniform encoding, mac posts use several formats, also there is resourse and data forks (i don't remember whether the name is correct) which are specific to mac files. i checked mac posts maybe two years ago, maybe the situation is better now.
also yenc is much more efficient than any of older encodings.

A lot of the files are in Binhex format. if you were to save the posting as a text file, with a .bin at the end, then transfer to a mac it can often figure out the encoding when you double clik the file. You can also try Rosetta stone to do the conversions for you.
About 30-40% of posts are now in yenc or similar format that NewPro can understand.
It would be great if Newspro could do binhex conversions.
