Search still does not work good (solved - ISP problem)

hi,

I have posted several time sregarding problems with the search service. It seems that it is related to my home network because when i use my laptop at work or somewhere else, the search works.

Please help!!!!!

I do not know what to try.

I run Vista, no FW, Symantec anti virus, i use an Alcatel router/ADSL modem.

What error message are you getting?

After a very long time:

"Search failed. A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or".

If it's the same error every time, I'd guess maybe your router or ISP is doing some port blocking.... Maybe Alex can give you the URL's and port numbers to try pinging, traceroute, etc. to see where the problem lies.

Hi,

Solved it! ISP problem!

I asked a friend to give me his user of a different ISP. Connected and it is working. Went back to my ISP - nothing. Changed again - working.
Called ISP support, spent 1.5 hours on the phone trying to explain why the problem is on their end. Proved it by telneting your ports.
They moved me to another server, and now it is ok.
I'll check it and update you if it stays that way....
