Win7 64 search problems

Post by Meddle »

I am having trouble searching using win7. I have tried the suggestions in the other thread with no success. If i download the nzb via binsearch I am able to download without a problem. I am able to search using the same computer when I dual boot with XP sp3. I downloaded a demo of Newsbin pro and that works ok with win7. The win7 firewall is disabled and I am using zonealarm. Any suggestion would be a great help. Cheers

UE needs to use outgoing TCP ports somewhere in the range 2020-2027 to be able to do searches. So ensure in zonealarm that those ports are available (outgoing only, no need to open those ports for listening, UE doesn't listen on any ports). UE currently permits more advanced search syntax than others and number of results limit is higher, so it uses multiple ports to allow cheaper hardware configuration (more CPUs and more data streams).

For me it worked with default Win7 64 bit install, so default firewall settings should work, maybe zonealarm limitations on outgoing ports are too strict.

Let me know if was resolved.

Thanks Alex, the router was blocking these ports, under XP these ports do not need to be open, but under win7 they are needed, searches are running smoothly now :)
