I notice that the delete key doesn't work when viewing a picture inside the program. The context menu shows that Del is mapped to delete body but pressing the key does nothing.

the del key is not an usual shortcut and needs its own processing, i copied entries from the newsgroup view menu but i didn't add the couple of lines of code, i will.
