the search service configuration has changed.
it works from here and i see users can access everything as usual.
when i reset search service configuration in properties->general it reacquires the new configuration right as well. if you reset it does UE downloads the configuration or gives an error?
did you see the message box about changing configuration, what is the exact error? if it cannot change it - it will complain about firewall i think, in short UE needs to download the configuration file from the UE website, so it needs permission to access
www.netwu.com/ue port 80
tomorrow i'll change it again finally, still need little more preparations.

ok i see now (got email) it is not the search but the import header stage.
it is some problem with compacting database (i ran the database through compact procedure to prepare configuration change), i'll check this tomorrow, in the meantime i've restored the previous configuration, so all should work.

no i think it started working because i switched it back.
tomorrow i'll check what it was, in principle i don't need to run compact as well, just i'm preparing the configuration for retention upgrade, if i did it earlier compact would save some space, now it is not really much, but notwithstanding that the function should work, i'll check it does before exposing anything to users.

I had this earlier but my firewall popped up asking for access to a new address. I allowed it and it worked fine. It seems that some firewalls aren't asking permission when anything changes.

the compact function was ok, just the server side generated wrong crc for import header stage because i changed something there for v2.0 and didn't reflect it in the server code and the server is compiled from the most recent code, not from the current version project.
but anyway now i've completed all those changes including switching the configuration.
