Been having problems with Ngroups since new server allocation
I can NOT collect headers from alt.binaries.boneless ????

I try to collect all headers and all is fine....except for alt.binaries.boneless
Collection starts and is over in less than a millisecond??? (usually takes 1/2 hour @ 2MB/s)
No new headers for days now?? (usually TONs of new headers every day....for years now)
All other groups are collected fine

I contacted tech support about this and they feel UE can NOT handle a group that large???

Any ideas?

I'm able to gather headers for alt.binaries.boneless from the eu.ngroups.net server
Not able to get alt.binaries.boneless headers from the us.ngroups.net server

Strange......

they changed provider (they are reseller and i understand the old provider didn't leave them any margin plus uncompetitive retention), so they have now different servers with different article numbering.

invoke reset header range from the workspace for that newsgroup (context menu, advanced submenu), or you can reset headers in the newsgroup and download headers again although it is not necessary.

server: us.ngroups.net
alt.binaries.boneless:

interesting their highest article number is relatively small, others will cross 4 billion (4 byte unsigned integer max value) in 3-4 months, it is around twice more articles than that, it appears they started from scratch several years ago.

it is why UE didn't get headers, it had a higher article number already from the old server.

what retention/last headers settings do you have.

what is the server ip address (try ping then rename server to that ip and restart UE to be sure).

here i tried it with natural/all it started normally then i just cancelled it, you see above - program range - it managed to get around 10000 headers.

secondly can you expand the newsgroup then select the server and invoke "header range properties" from advanced submenu, what do you see there (like i did above, you can copy/paste from there).

I had my retention set for 35 days
Always have

Have header range set to 5000000
Always have

Set retention to Natural

All seems fine now??
Boneless headers are collected fine now???

My other groups always collected fine and still do

It appears my problem is solved?

Could be server malfunction, one may hit different physical servers when using the same server name, maybe the one you got had a problem.
