New headers only

Is there a way to set a filter for viewing new headers only. Also is there a guide available somewhere on setting up filters.
you need to invoke edit menu->message filter, messages are new, extract.
you can define it as a file filter (edit menu->save filter).
there is a topic on the home page and some examples in the distributable (you can open them with edit menu->filter editor).
