no problem, just the extension should be .nzb
just rename it from .xml to .nzb, then you can import it. here it downloads ok (at least few parts).
.xml is a universal format and newspro is not exactly .xml processor so autoopen wouldn't be right, all i could add in the future in manual import it will treat .xml as .nzb (it is trivial).

Indeed you're right!
I was counting on regognize-by-format.
It works now!
Maybe the All Files *.* mask should be disabled
in the import-file dialog, if you cannot use it
to import a file.
(Or is the other type *.zml recognised by content?)

naturally newspro checks content too, just it treats files based on extension and only then delegates them to the appropriate function.
the main point you better not set .xml as extension for yournzb output since the extension is too generic, so it is not wise to associate it with a newsreader, so if you want users to be able to open your files automatically it should be .nzb
.zml currently is not used beyond one site, so eventually probably i'll drop it (the site supports .nzb too). the only advantage of .zml is it is compressed, but it has some drawbacks, so probably a better alternative would be compressed .nzb if the file size matters.
