Filter question

I'm attempting to get my "junk" filter situated. I've been able to eliminate all junk. To test that I did not remove anything that I wanted, I negated the filter and found a few falsely removed headers and was hoping someone could shed some light as to why.

The filter is one line:

Code: Select all

Subject Contains .nfo|.txt|.mp3|.par|.rar|.exe|.par2|.zip|.0??|.jpg|.gif|.mov|.mpg|.avi|.dat|\(*\/*\)|\[*\-\*\]
wildmat on, negate on
apply to All, Extract.

negate is on to merely see what is being stripped out.

It beautifully removed all the bogus stuff. I'm a bit perplexed why the following messages would have been removed, however:
  • Message subject:
  • ¬ATTN: Chandler Bing/Oz - Corel WordPerfect Office 12 + KeyGen [20/20] - "WordPerfect Office 12 + Keygen.vol069+40.PAR2" yEnc (01/62)
  • Re: >> To the group, please read! - Att: some info FYI - 009_104.jpg (1/1)
  • Re: Nero 6.6 Manuals yEnc "InCD_Users_Guide_eng.pdf" (1/1)Please Try Reposting these,Pdfs coming up corrupt,Par files not repairing
They all have at least one of the wildmat matches which is why i'm a bit perplexed.

try to simplify the pattern to see what part causes the problem if it is indeed a wrong pattern (the algorithm itself is very very unlikely to fail).

but the most likely cause - i see at least two replies - Re: - if it is a thread and the root or at least one reply mathes, newspro will show all the thread anyway, just non-matching headers will have gray box around + for non-matching root or gray rombus for non-matching children.
