Often, while getting new headers, UE will just exit - no Windows "Program has unexpectedly...." or anything. The icon stays in the tray until you move the mouse over it, so it's easy to see that it's exiting uncleanly.

If I restart it, and tell it get new messages again, it will die again very shortly. Eventually, from doing this, it will get all headers and be okay.

I turned on the log function, and it just shows:

What could be causing this? What other information do you need?

I forgot to mention, this has been happening through every version so far.

it is quite unusual, do you get it with all newsgroups shortly after start and can reproduce it very easily even starting with an empty newsgroup? what windows are you running?

ue has exception handler and unless something goes very wrong it will write something into log and even will save the database.

what other applications you have installed on your computer which may interfere, like firewall, antivirus, any program which could inject dll into the process address space? did you ever have a crash which left traces in log.txt?

but in any case if you have any info share it until it is resolved.

after some more details provided like newsgroup etc. it was fixed in v1.08
