Are program settings/configurations in a file or registry?

Hi,
In another post Alex mentioned this:

"it doesn't change the settings file (reg.dat), "

I am assuming that reg.dat contains all configuration options for newspro and nothing is stored in the registry?

Here is my question. If I move my newspro folder to a difference directory or reinstall Windows completely, will all my settings be saved when i start newspro up again or do I have to export part of the registry?

This program gets better and better the more I use it. Has anyone ever experimented with a RAM disk for keeping newspro on? That should really make it fly, should it not?

yes, reg.dat contains everything.

if you move folder invoke file menu->switch database.

if you reinstall windows point out to the newspro database directory, newspro will ask for it when you run the program in the first time.

does reg.dat also include the list of subscribed newsgroups?

So, other than a customized filter, if I reinstall Win the only file I need to backup is reg.dat?

thanks,
Michael
