XPAT Problems

Hi,
Newbie so hopefully a straight forward question. I have created a search group #mpg. I open the search group xpat dialogue box and I put in my search criteria *mpg* but when I then try to copy all the newsgroups to the dialog box I only get a partial copy.
Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong.
