are there special steps that needs to be taken to make this upgrade?

or just the same download 2.6 64bit and let it overwrite 2.5.2 32bit?

want to know before i make the extraction.

no special steps needed.

only if you run v2.6 and you've exceeded v2.5.2 limits (4GB cnt.dat which is around 160M headers per group) don't run v2.5.2 again so not to lose data. v2.6 32 bit and 64 bit versions are fully compatible and interchangeable.
