Hi guys,

I've been using NewsPro for a while and it has gotten unbeareable lately. Opening a newsgroup takes an hour. And my data directory is about two gigs in size. I usually operate this way:

- Open a group, fetch headers.
- Download and save some stuff of interest (with Alt-K).
- Delete the stuff I am not interested in (with Alt-X).

Should I be doing stuff differently? How about purging newsgroups? Seems like I have a lot of stuff collected in the Data directory. What can I delete in there?

Thanks for any help!

Paul

Hi pprovost

Yea I used to have this problem, now I have divide the database into sections country mp3, exe, CBT and such like. You then use profiles (see running mutliple instances on newspro homepage).
You can still have lots of 'instances' of newspro open, they all open quicker and its kinda comfortable having them organised. (bit like using folders but 1 step further.
Copy your database to for example folder mp3_country
create a pointer to newspro in mp3_country
edit the pointer to be
c:\program files\newspro\newspro mp3_country
start newspro thro the pointer and it will ask where the database is (neat and easy)
point it to mp3-country then clean the other stuff, thats non country newsgroups, servers that don' t carry mp3, etc out of newspro,
optimise the database and off yer go, loads in a trice.

Well it does 4 me
goodluck
