NP doesn't want to save

Hi all

using the newest version of NP

Since upgrading to this one I am having an occasional problem of NP not saving attachments. I right-click on downloaded bodies and select "save attachments" and I see the "saving progress" box pop up and go away VERY quickly. Needless to say, the bodies are still there and nothing was saved!!!

I looked at everything I could, disspace is okay, this has happend with completed bodies, and partial bodies. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doens't. I cannot find a common demoniator between those that do not save.

any ideas?

thanks,
Michael

cannot reimport headers

A related problem to the above...

I decided to delete the headers that would refuse to save, and try to reimport them with a .nzb file and nothing happens! no error, and nothing shows up at all. Totally confused!

I imported another .nzb (with headers that were never imported before) and it worked fine.

thanks for any help to the above two problems.

use edit menu->show deleted headers to show deleted (reimport doesn't change anything, just the same headers imported). the import group behaves in the same way as a usual newsgroup which means

try to save source of parts of one partial that is not saved and email it to me or if it is too big put them in a zip where i can download them, better along with the .nzb file, most probably these are malformatted articles (unless there some other problem like write error, but then newspro would show an error message).

Hi Alex,

I tried to show deleted header, and even unclicked "autosupport for partial message" so everything would show and there is nothing. I had reset the database earlier, probably that's why. But still those same headers won't reimport!

As for the ones that don't save - I deleted those too and then reset database, but the next time it happens I'll save the source and email it.

As for now, the biggest problem for me is I can't reimport headers that were once downloaded!

thanks,
Michael

maybe you enabled purging for the import group, check the edit menu while it is open, it can be only that.

Thanks Alex,

Yes, I DID have purge deleted headers marked - but isn't that what I want?

Since they are deleted and purged, shouldn't I be able to re-import them? Or does NP keep a record of downloaded headers somewhere?

thanks agian for your help!

you can undelete headers from a group with purging enabled as long as the group is open, purging means that headers don't reenter database.

but i probably i'll reconsider this behaviour for the import group in the next version, at least regarding purging, so at least the headers will reenter as deleted.

thanks for the explanation Alex.

Now, how do I re-import those headers? I've tried and tried and it just doens't work.

thanks,
Michael

you need to disable purging for the group first.

then you import and invoke edit menu->show deleted headers.

then you undelete the headers from the context menu.

Hi Alex,

regarding this post: http://www.netwu.com/newspro/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=674

I have a partial body that won't save, so I opended/viewed it in NP, right-clicked and selected "save source". So, now I have a .npr file that I would like you to look at. I can also send you the original newsbin file. But, I need your email address!

thanks for your help,
Michael

p.s. I tried sending you a PM message and I get this error:

Ran into problems sending Mail. Response: 550 5.7.0 {mp012} Sender address does not belong to logged in user

DEBUG MODE

Line : 40
File : /var/www/html/newspro/phpBB2/includes/smtp.php

I have the same problem but it is not only with import that this happens also with normal use or with search option, the strange thing is that you tyr it again (so delete bodies and download again) it sometimes will work again with the same message, sometimes you have to try 3-4 times before you can save it normally.

as to import it has changed in 3.75 so headers reenter the database.

as to saving attachments you don't need to download bodies again, just select the headers and use 'save' from the context menu (alt+d). if you have to redownload for save to work - it might be newsserver or something on your side that corrupts the files (e.g. firewall gets confused).

If it was the server i have two provider servers and 2 pay servers when i download the same message through webnews from the payserver it works fine if i download that message through newspro I can't save at the same time I'm downloading other messages without any problems
