probably a silly question, but..

Post by Kirstie »

I have access to the Internet via 2 routes (one direct, one by via a proxy)
I can't work out how to tell NewsPro which one to use :(
I dont know if this is right, but it seems to take whichever connection my Internet browser is 'aimed' at.
The trouble is that I have to browse via the proxy but I want NewsPro to use the other direct (unproxied) connection
Any one help please ? :?

:) ah looks like I have to partially reply to my own post...

I set up my local proxy in NewsPro with authentication and, at least, it now does works (I still want to use it direct tho)

I wish there was a better Help file or a user guide for us no-brainers

So, come on, tell me how NewsPro 'finds' it's connection to the 'net ... ??

I believe by default, everything on your system will use your "Internet Options" to connect, so your local proxy must be set up there. If, you want Newspro to use your direct connection, perhaps it either has its own proxy or you may need to use localhost (127.0.0.1) as the proxy inside of Newspro at properties->proxies to override the default "Internet Options" (I have done this before, but don't remember how lol) :?

let us know if you figure it out

newspro won't use proxy settings from internet explorer.

if you define the same proxy in newspro as the local proxy it will use it (you can enable the proxy only for some servers).

otherwise all goes through your direct connection.
