Workspace: Servers conundrum

Post by Josef K »

After having life made more complex but so much more fun by this, I have a feature request if it's possible.

Doing what I have said in the post linked above, I now have three subsets, containing 3, 3 and 2 servers and two further servers not in subsets. Now, for those which I'd like to track the bandwidth (which in this case is all 3 subsets), figuring out what the usage is is tricky. I thought about this before but now duplicates of the servers are into the equation to spice things up.

What I'm suggesting is for subsets to be able to be put into folders (or similar) and the info collated, rather than listed separately for each server. For example, if one account is about to run out of bandwidth and I'm about to go to bed and therefore too tired to correctly add up all the currently used bandwidth - my account might be suspended 10 minutes after I go to bed. With this paid account being the lowest priority, I would kick myself for not knowing when I could have whipped out my credit card and took a quick trip to my account page to buy a few more GB of downloads. I'd also like to keep an eye on another of my accounts which has a monthly limit.

It would be perfect to be able to put the two subsets of one account into a folder and other subset into another one. Then for each folder to display the total usage data for all subsets/servers within it.

Actually I just thought maybe you wouldn't need folders to complicate things. I should probably just put all the duplicates into the same subset (by server) and then making the subsets add up the total bandwidth would possibly be easier.

i understand you put the same account servers in the same subset, in principle it could show the subset bandwidth, just the issue seems to be a low priority, i'm not sure how many people know about subsets at all, it was added when newsfeeds connection limits started needing such an option.

Fair enough. I realise there are far more important issues at hand but while these sort of things occur to me I'll post them. Another 'rainy day' feature request... :)
