Couple of questions/requests

Post by Nazgul »

First off, I'm very impressed with the new program, the resource usage is a mere fraction of NewsPro. Still getting used to the changes in the interface, but that's mostly just a matter of retraining my fingers. I was curious about a few minor things though:

1) In UE, if I delete a block of article headers, I have to click in the group/folder window again to get the focus back. In NewsPro I could just hit a navigation key(PgUp/Dn, Arrows) and start going through the list again. In UE, it seems that the window focus is lost, or something. Is this a new behavior or am I just missing something simple?

2) Whenever I open a folder or group, the "Show Incomplete Partials" is always toggled On, and I have to unselect it each time. Is there a way to have it Off as the default behavior?

3) In folder/group windows and in the Task Manager, there are quite a few columns, in the f/g case there are more than there were in NewsPro. Any chance we could get a way to customize which colums we see? For example, I don't really need to see the Author and Date in the Task Manager, so it'd be nice if I could use that space to show the rest of the Subject line instead of the ellipsis.

As I said before, these are minor issues. On the whole, I'm really liking UE, especially now that I can run something else on that computer at the same time. :)

currently the program just keeps position so the list doesn't jump, also the focus remains in the newgroup view, but it doesn't calculate the new focused item (if you press an arrow key it will reappear), if you delete some items and then check deleted you'll see focused/selected are the same there.

it is all ok for automatic operations but for manual i've just put in the to do list to add another wrap which will calculate the new focused item and will select it in such cases.

initial showing incompetes can be disabled in properties->general

in task manager it remembers the column layout/sizes (at least it is supposed to) so if you shrink columns to zero width they won't be shown. the column layout is separate for docked task manager and task manager window shown in a view like other views, so if you use both you need to adjust widths in both of them (it is because the docked task manager is wider so the program keeps separate column layouts).

i added the calculating of the focused item to the to do list, i was thinking whether to include it now, but it is not so trivial, the implementation would need something similar to the code 'find next' 'find previous', which is not so small that i would accept for the purpose it right away.

so i postponed it, maybe i'll be able to think about something simpler, maybe not perfect but working in most cases (but the perfect solution is also an option if i decide to adopt the said above code).
