setting the date in searches

Post by turk187 »

Usually when I want to search for the most recent stuff I just put 0-1 in the search engine, but was wondering if there is a way to narrow it down further. I tried putting 0, but that doesn't work - it says you can use dates but what format? is there a number you can enter that would bring up items posted in the last 12 hours? .5 doesn't work, I tried 10/21 for today and that didn't work either.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You should read the help file UE.txt, specifically sections Quick filter bar and Search service bar.

Edit: added a link to UE.TXT

Gee, "read the instructions", why didn't I think of that??

"The "Dates/days" and "Lines" fields can accept a range. Dates you can set like 25Mar 25Mar05 25Mar-29Mar,
days 3-5 or 12h-1d12h (d means days and h - hours, if nothing it means days, also you can use something
like <5 or >10, but '<' and '>' here means less/more or equal respectively. the same applies to newsgroup
retention/headers properties)."

there are also samples in edit menu->properties->newsgroups, retention/dates [range], if you expand the combo box, the same works for searches.
