What is difference between "Purge" & "Del

Post by LeftCoast_Dave »

Suppose I'm subscribed to a.b.s.l.classical, and really don't need to keep headers & such for "Angelic-teens-naked-anal.avi" or the like. Seems like just marking "read" for future filtration isn't as useful getting it out of my local database. So, what do each of the two - "purge" and "delete" - accomplish?

Also, any way to set this up with a filter up front for a particular group? Sort of like a spam filter, say?

Thanks

better to use "delete", first you can see those headers marked as "deleted" if you check "del" in the quick filter bar, and secondly if you rescan headers for any reason (e.g. you reset header range) - the deleted headers will be still there as deleted, if you purge them - they will be downloaded again since UE won't keep track of them.

filters are created in edit menu->filter editor and then set in edit menu->properties->kill filter, you can set them per group, folder or for all groups, i think there are some help topics on the home page on this.
