Hi. I subscribed to a couple of newsgroups. I wanted to see everything they had, so set retention to 450 days. Got headers, then went thru and deleted LOTs of them.
A few of the articles that I want to deal with are in the +400 day range, and as time permits I'll get to them, but in the mean time, these new groups are HUGE. We're talking over 400 million headers. UE deals with it ok, but takes some time to open/close these biggies.
Is there some way, other than turning down the retention, to get UE to hold on to just the undeleted headers and new ones that come in? Some way to purge deleted? [I did do a search for this, but the clicks suggested don't seem to exist in the current UE]

advanced submenu->purge deleted headers
you can also purge instead of deleting headers
but if you reset header range, it will redownload all headers again, otherwise if server article numbering is steady the purged headers won't reappear.
