quick filter with a range of size ?

Post by TBert »

Hi,

it is possible to use in the quick filter bar a range of size ?

I have test in the field 'Size: (KB)' some inputs like '1000-10000' (to display only entrys from 1MB to 10MB) but they don't work :-(

Only with inputs like '>1000' (display all entrys greater than 1MB) i have correct results ...

It is not implemented to use a range or must i input the range in other format ?

If you have collections enabled (yellow or magenta icon entries) it will also show collections with the files matching the size.

Yes, i have collections enabled ... but was must i input in the size-filter field to display only collection (or single files) with a size from 1MB to 10MB ? If i input '1000-10000' then it display also some collections with a size >100MB !?!

The questions is: What is the correct syntax to input a RANGE in the size-field of the filter ?

The syntax is like you suggested.

Filters are applied to file and collection entries separatedly.

If a collection has a file which matches the filter - the collection entry will be shown even if it doesn't match; there is a button not to show other files in the collections except for the matching files (threads menu) then you get results the same as without collections shown (apart for the very collection entries), and there is a check box in edit menu->properties->general to have the button pressed for open views.

Hm, if i make a filter like '>100000' then it shows also the collections that greater than 100MB but inside the collections are no files >100MB so this filter must work with the size of the complete collection and not the single files inside of them ... ?!?

Or is 'filter are applies to files, not collections' only possible for the Range-filter ?

I edited my first reply (didn't remember it is old code), yes, collection entries are included as separated entities in filter match, there is logic in that.

There is also color differentiation of [+]

[ ] applies to the root entry

+ applies to the content of the thread

blue means match and grey means no match.

so when collection matches and all files no match [ ] will be blue and + will be grey etc.

OK, this help me a little ... but the best way (for me ;-) is a new checkbox in the settings to use the filter match only with the complete collection and not with the entrys inside of them so that i have only display the collections that match the filter, independently of the entrys ... i think this is a good new function ;-)

Maybe in the future I'll try to refine those things.
