In the past i also had that word in my post (i only posted 1 post btw) and did not understand it either. And i think most of the usenet users don't understand it i think.
I know they use et. al. in scientific publications. The authors show a reference to a publication. According to known data (1), we can conclude....

the only catch as it used to be it will take the file name from the first (topmost) file in the attachment list.
e.g. if the topmost file will be "x.part01.rar" it will be "x.par2" but if you put there e.g. "scans.rar" it will be "scans.par2". the same name is used for sfv and nzb files.
i placed the code into a function where in principle more clever choice could be made but i guess this topic won't pop up in the future.
the bottom reason why it was implemented as it is i guess my own preferences, i download almost exclusively music, and these are usually albums, a set of different excerpts and not rar sets.
probably i'll add a recommendation in UE.txt in the poster section to have topmost entry .nfo or one of rar set files, then it will be clear in every case without et al (although the word itself doesn't change the validity of the post itself and even recognized by select related headers).
after some thinking i went for a "deluxe" implementation when you can set the output file name yourself, also i reduced number of options a little so the "par2" checkbox will get correlated with the "start par2" button, so no more default settings any more.
