Hey i am experimenting with spamfilters.
I made a simple filter:
only one rule to make it simple
subject contains:
enlarge|VIAGRA|attract|impot
Boolean wildcard - checked
Action BAN
when applying it (menu->apply filter), it works. But after closing and opening the newsgroup. The filtered spam is back again.
OK i can live with that so long as it bans the spam with opening the newsgroup and getting new headers. Until the spam is to old and gets deleted.
Then i tried to use the kill filter and connected the newsgroup to the filter. Nothing happened. The same trick for auto/watch also nothing happened.
So either what i want is not possible (dont think so) or i do anything wrong. But what?
Another thing that doenst work like i would see.
The auto/watch filter works with downloading files selected in the filter.
But when 10 files were already visible in the newsgroup. I noticed that only the newer files (getting headers) getting automaticly selected and downloaded. But the older files dont get selected and dloaded.
Problems with getting filters to work like i would
Another question.
The auto/wacth filter dloads only what i want, BUT it also shows all the other headers.
The headers i wanted to download AND the headers i dont want to See/download.
I can make those headers disappear with menu->edit->message filter - Open filter, but is there a way to automate this?

The filter should work as you wish. Ensure that 'Apply to all' is selected. Set it as a kill filter for a particular newsgroup and upon getting new headers it will filter them out without any intervention. It won't filter out headers that are already in the database, so just run a filter to select headers with those words, then Alt-X to delete them.

Ok if thats the i should, i am used to it now.
However "normal" spamfiltering is more difficult then i thougt. So i want to use "negative" filtering.
What i want is when the newsgroup gets the new headers, that it shows only headers containing:
(or mpg or mpeg or avi or zip or rar or r0 or r1 or r2 or r3 or r4 or r5 or r6 or r7 or r8 or r9).
Everything else must be automaticly deleted.
What i have now one rule in my spamfilter under killfilter:
Subject contains:
mpg|mpeg|avi|zip|rar|r0|r1|r2|r3|r4|r5|r6|r7|r8|r9
Negation checked
Boolean Wildmat checked
Selection scope Apply to all
Action = Ban
Is this good or am i now throwing the wrong files away?
Is the selection scope good in combination with negation?
