I've been using your excellent program for ages now, and have managed to overcome most of the probs that it's posed, with the help of your website and the info on this forum. But now I can't seem to help myself. My newsprovider is UNS, and they boast having great retention while I think they actually just store a lot of headers without bodies. So I want to limit the period of time over which I get headers in for very large groups (having had a few crashes and getting tired of waiting). So I changed the retention setting from 'natural' to 1-7 to be on the safe side. Now one server (100proofnews) won't get anything at all, and UNS takes a long long time showing a light blue bar in the task manager, and then starts getting headers in at what seems to be the same rate as before. Is this right? Should I try a different setting or just be more patient (grrr...

in the first time newspro will scan newsgroup for dates; in the next time if you don't change the retention it will be fast since no such scan is needed.
you can set the retention only for uns if your other server gets stuck with xhdr leave its retention natural (if it just wouldn't support xhdr newspro would still work normally).

Green bar?!
"Natural" retention seemed to work better for 100proofnews, but now, with another group, it shows a light-green bar. Can you tell me what this means?
